Mother's day

Mother's day is here again, and my Mum's favourite is lemon and poppy seed cake - so guess what kind of cupcakes she recieved yesterday! I went a bit lemon-happy and put lemon curd in the centre and lemon icing on the top. And because spring is here I've made little sugar flowers and bugs to decorate them.

And a very happy mothers day to all the mums out there.

Star Trek Gingerbread

As we should all know, the human holiday First Contact Day is around the corner on April 5th (nerd alert!), and what better way to celebrate than with cookies! (Although that hardly seems the logical Vulcan thing to do).

I was originally going to make these really detailed, but halfway through I stopped to look at them and they had a sort of simple elegance to them. And besides, I think gingerbread tastes best with little if indeed any icing, don't you agree?

One day I'll make an intricately detailed crew, but not today.

Oh, and yes - the red cookies are going to be eaten first :P

Carrot Cakes

Plain and simple and delish - just carrot cake. No walnuts, no raisins, just carroty(?) goodness, with cream cheese frosting and a little sugarpaste carrot for good measure.
